Still A Man

There’s a path through the woods from our cabin in the forests of Northern VT. which ends at a swimming hole fed by a waterfall. The site is so beatiful on so many levels, that I don’t have the words, so I won’t even try.

For 33 summers, I go there to celebrate my life, thank my creator for another year, meditate, and to get clean.

Standing naked on the same rock for 33 Julys (don’t even think about getting into water that cold other than July and August), soap in hand, heart pounding, beckoned to by the gorgeous green water dappled by the sun peeking through the leaves, I ask myself every single time: “is this the time you’re gonna wimp out?”

Then I ask: “What are you Michael, a man or a mouse?” Then I take another breath and commit myself.

Then the path home through the forest, all the senses, all fully engaged – soooo alive!

In such gratitude, I wanted to share this with you.

Please be kind to yourself,

Metta,

Michael
